Professor Chang-Hwan Im graduated from the School of Electrical Engineering, Seoul National University in 1999. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. at the same university in 2001 and 2005, respectively. He worked as a post-doctoral associate at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Minnesota, MN, USA, from 2005 to 2006. From 2006 to 2011, he worked for the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Yonsei University, Korea, as an Assistant/Associate Professor. From 2011, he has been working for the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Hanyang University as an Associate Professor. His research interests cover various fields of neuroelectromagnetics and computational neuroengineering, especially brain-computer interfaces (BCI), diagnosis of neuropsychiatric diseases, noninvasive brain stimulation, bioelectromagnetic source imaging, and dynamic neuroimaging. He has authored more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed international journals such as Journal of Neuroscience Methods, Human Brain Mapping, Neuroscience Research, Brain Research, and NeuroImage. He is currently a director of the Computational Neuroengineering (CoNE) Laboratory of Hanyang University. He is also a secretary of general affairs in the Korean Human Brain Mapping Society and a director of the Korean Bioelectromagnetics Society.

  •  Bioelectromagnetics, especially magneto/electro-encephalography (MEG/EEG), magnetocardiography (MCG), transcranial magnetic/electric stimulation (TMS/TES), noninvasive electromagnetic impedance imaging (EIT/MIT), etc.
  • Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for communications and control
  • Functional dynamic neuroimaging with MEG, EEG, fMRI and its clinical applications
  • Computational neural network and evolutionary computation
  • Numerical analysis of bioelectromagnetic fields and optimal design of biomedical instruments
